Day One is Growing! We’re thrilled to announce two new team members who will bring a ton of talent and experience to Day One – Sarabeth Berk is joining as Senior Director of Growth and Amy McMillen is joining as our new Program Manager.

You know we have a bold vision at Day One, which is why growing our team matters. We’ve built a fellowship program designed for early-stage founders who want to get from zero to one without the hassle and heartache of breaking into mentor networks, getting accepted into elite programs, and tracking down topnotch collaborators.

We’re reimagining how founders get started, create success, and take big leaps faster by building the best community platform for entrepreneurs.

A year ago, we started with one cohort and an appetite for doing things differently. Today, we’ve worked with nearly 250 founders across five cohorts, and our network continues to grow rapidly because of our tight knit, hands-on approach.

Announcing our next new hires is a big moment for us as the co-founders of Day One.

As we remind our fellows, celebrating small wins matters just as much as the big ones, and this is a major milestone. We know you’re going to enjoy getting to know Sarabeth and Amy as much as we’re excited to have them on the team.

We’d appreciate it if you would spread your cheers and excitement by joining our newsletter, following us on social (we share a lot of good stuff on LinkedIn and Twitter), or sharing this announcement with anyone you think might be ready for their “day one” as a founder – our next cohort starts in early January, and we’re accepting applications now.

Now, join us in welcoming…

Sarabeth Berk, PhD: Sarabeth works at the intersection of art, design, education, and research, which led her to become an innovation strategist and ecosystem builder. She caught the startup bug by getting involved in the Denver/Boulder startup scene. Sarabeth launched and led the University of Colorado Boulder’s campus-wide innovation & entrepreneurship initiative where she supported hundreds of founders to navigate their unique entrepreneurial paths. Afterwards, she led a statewide innovation ecosystem for founders focused on solving challenges in early childhood. Sarabeth is also a TEDx speaker, author and founder of More Than My Title where she helps people unlock their hybrid professional identity, instead of saying “I wear a lot of hats.” She calls herself a creative disruptor and was drawn to Day One because she loves supporting founders to transform themselves and their visions into something greater than the sum of their parts.

Fun Fact: Sarabeth started her career as a ski instructor at Aspen/Snowmass, has a miniature schnauzer named Jax who looks like a muppet, and loves adding extra mini chocolate chips to her mint chocolate chip ice cream.

On day one of Day One, she plans to start following and connecting with all the amazing founders who are already part of the community! Be on the lookout for her LinkedIn invite.

Amy McMillen: Amy brings a range of experiences across product, operations, and content, having worked with solo founders, startups, and large-scale investment firms. Most recently at the Hustle, she wrote about data-backed business opportunities and helped manage a community of 15k+ entrepreneurs. Along the way, she published a book about her journey in mindfulness, burnout, and mental health. Amy studied systems engineering and sustainability at the University of Virginia, where she also co-founded Charlottesville’s chapter of the Human Library to challenge stereotypes through storytelling. After spending almost 2 years living out of a suitcase, she is now based in San Diego, CA.

Fun fact: Amy grew up playing classical music (piano, violin, clarinet, and voice). When she was eight years old, she performed Für Elise on the piano blindfolded on Chinese national television.

On day one of Day One, she plans to get caught up on meeting the Fellows from cohort 5 and gathering feedback on how the Fellowship can be even better!
